Newto - In response to your last post, there are still meter readers, both for parking meters and also those who read meters inside your house (such as for gas). As for the house meters, that technology is different - the workers no longer need to come into your house to read your meter.  As for parking meters, there are meter maids (male and female) going around in different areas, believe it or not.

Jez - haven't seen a meter reader in years. They used to roam around in DC giving out tickets.   Our utility meter (electric) is read remotely. 


Men tend to fall into two categories - those who are dying every time they sneeze and those who are in total denial - not sure which is worse!
