BFG Statement 2/10/15

BFG stated they discovered on 1/12/15 involving the theft of payment information from their online stores. An unknown criminal installed malware on the billing and payment pages of their websites that had intercepted customer payment information for purchases between 12/24/14 and 1/8/15. Your name, address, payment card information including the card number, expiration date and CVV2 code may have been among the information accessed. BFG is stating your information could have been affected if you entered new payment details during this time and may not effect those using a previously saved profile. BFG has stated that they have taken the steps to remove the malware and prevent it from being reinstalled. Also stated they have reported this to law enforcement and credit reporting agencies.

I take this to mean if you were a member during this time it may not have affected you. To me there are just to many May Have's or Could Have's. I just wanted you all to be informed on what had happened in case you didn't know. I also know we are spread out and some of our friends don't come here. Please feel free to copy this information if you wish to and share it with your friends on the other forums you go to in case they don't know. Would appreciate your help, thanks.

Someone on FB posted to BFG page about the email they received this is the response by BF

Big Fish Games self-discovered evidence that we were the victim of a criminal intrusion of our website, involving the interception and diversion of payment information for a small percentage of our total customers. Affected customers are limited to those who provided new payment information using a web browser to make purchases on our website from December 24, 2014 until January 8, 2015. Purchases for or within mobile games through Apple or Google, or purchases on Facebook were not affected. We were able to remove the malware responsible for the issue and are directly notifying customers who were affected by mail. We deeply regret any difficulties or inconvenience this may cause our customers. We know this kind of incident can create concern and encourage those impacted to contact Big Fish Customer Support:

It sounds like it only affected those that entered new payment information through their computer.

I would still watch your bank accounts closely for awhile.

Patches, why did you delete your post.

Gov, Cause way to much babble and told you cause I was feeling guilty of doing it. @ bank accounts, I agree.

The other thing one could do if they they are unsure or don't feel safe is call the credit card company of the card they had used and tell them of the breach. The card that was used would be cancelled and a new one would be issued. I don't know if that is being over paranoid or not but it is an option.

I did change my payment information but pretty sure that was in mid January.  I use Paypal instead of a credit card for this.   Have checked both Paypal accounts and everything appears okay.  Thanks for the warning.
